Wrecked Reminder
(excerpt)

In James Elkins' book, What Photography Is, Elkins meditates on what he feels are some of the inherent nature(s) of photography. In the book he discusses how photography is analogous to a selenite window found in a pueblo house - an effect, which he writes, β€œβ€¦is the condition of photography."

"Photography", he says, "can be compared... to that selenite window. It promises a view of the world, but it gives us a flattened object in which wrecked reminders of world are lodged."

It is to these reminders that this photobook is dedicated.
